Guess these bands! 48 band names have been illustrated into icons by (I am guessing) Cinismo Ilustrado. Have fun and don’t look at the answer key til the end!

First the Girl Scouts, now the Y(MCA).  I like the idea, but I don’t think it’s 100% there yet.  I like the refreshing colors. Maybe soon we’ll see a redesign of the Goodwill logo?

Designer Albert Exergian’s love of posters, modernism and television was the driving force behind his self-initiated project, Iconic TV, a collection of minimally designed posters for TV shows such as The Wire (one of the best shows you’ll ever see, by the way), 30 Rock, Lost, True Blood, etc.

Letterheady is a Tumblelog with a collection of notable letterheads. Pictured above is Harry Houdini’s from 1913, but browse through the rest of the collection and you’ll find Einstein’s, the Rolling Stones’, Winston Churchill’s and yes, even Adolf Hitler’s.

Instead of the predictable holiday greetings, Pentagram’s 2009 holiday card came in the form of an interactive quiz – What Type Are You? After answering four simple questions (password: character), I found out I am Archer Hairline by Hoefler & Frere-Jones. According to the Freudian dude, Archer Hairline is my type because I am “someone who is outwardly composed, but will occasionally run into the bathroom for a quick laugh or quiet cry before emerging to the world outwardly composed again.” I suppose so… In either case, I love Archer.

P.S. What type are you?

I’m really liking these designs, especially with the use of kraft paper/board. Very appealing.
